Washing my kinky twists

Hi everyone,

I waited tooooooo long to wash my hair/ scalp in this protective style. I would usually wash every two weeks, but I have just been so busy that I waited 4. My twists were not acting right, my scalp was super itchy and I could not take it anymore. So I got my spray bottle and I used a different kind of shampoo. I used some DR. Miracles tingling shampoo only because I ran out of my Shea Moisture shampoo and I had a little of this left.

So I put my kinky hair up in a puff

I added 1 tablespoon of shampoo to my water bottle after filling half way with water.

Then I put a towel on my shoulders and began to spray my scalp. Starting with the back and then moving to the sides and front. I then took down the ponytail to get to the crown and everywhere else that I missed. Once I finished the mixture,  i gently massaged my scalp with the balls of my fingertips to lift up any dirt and oils.

I am so glad that I did this. My scalp is so happy and refreshed, my kinky twists were not stiff and gunky anymore. This might be gross to some, but we need to see the real, so this is all of the dirt that came out after I rinsed the shampoo mixture out of my hair.

That is a lot. But I am glad that I did it. This is why we need to make sure that we care for our kinky hair underneath any protective style. That way our sebum can work, and our scalp can be happy.

This is how it looked after rinsing all of that out of my hair and scalp.

So now I took my favorite conditioner in the whole wide world, which I am giving away in a contest that you can enter for here. And just pumped out, rubbed my hands together and applied all over my scalp and them down the kinky twists.

Then I spritz my hair with my moisturizing mixture.

After doing this, I gently squeezed my kinky twists with an old t-shirt to remove excess water and let them air dry. After they dried, I applied Jamaican Black Castor oil to my scalp and tied them down.

What a difference washing my scalp made in this protective style. My 4c kinky textured hair needs to stay moisturized underneath this style, so I make sure that I keep something on my scalp and use my moisturizing mixture spray as often as needed.

So if you plan on wearing a protective style to protect your kinky hair, make sure to pamper them as if they were not in the style.
